I've written about some bad characters before. Sammy here takes the cake. When I call him a "complete monster" I'm not joking at all. But what would you expect from somebody who was once the "Light Bringer"? One good way to describe him would be "morally blind", he seems completely ignorant to what's "good". The problem is he blinded himself and would just like to STAY blind because he enjoys evil for evil's sake and is smart enough and strong enough to commit the worst acts known to man, from raping kids to eating orphans to actually pulling the plug on the power in an entire hospital wing and then laughing about it to eating his own henchmen-do I really need to go on?

As if his personality wasn't horrible enough, his powers are downright frightening too. Bony wings that can suck you up if you get too close, a tail that whisps up like a living flame, bony claws for digits, six hands, with a seventh hidden in his chest? And no, you've not gone colorblind, his teeth really are blood-red.

One could argue he's the most powerful member of the Major Arcana and the only one ALL the others hate to a certain extent. Vassago, the Tower, who used to be a serial killer on Earth, finds him barbaric and without a shred of genuine honor. Snizzi, the Emperor, who's evil enough to decide who goes into what Hell, is disgusted with his morals...and he's pissed that "Sammy boy" has tried to kill Nick, his "best beloved" and Green, another "beloved" several times.

The tragic part is that he used to be very good. Furthermore, he used to act a lot like Nick did. When Nick found this out, he was mortified and worried if he might one day end up like the Devil. Luckily, no such luck. Nick's demonstrated that he'd sooner kill himself than commit great harm to innocents. This is good if you want to be a hero that dies for a cause. Bad if you want to rule the world.

Also luckily, Samael has one big weakness. How strong he is depends on how much sin has been committed by those near him. Facing a little kid, he wouldn't be much stronger than a human adult. And above all, while he might be an expert on spreading things like doubt and cruelty and prejudice, he knows nothing of unity, of love, of true good.

Really...he just seems vulnerable to me.
